- Study Destination, an international education agency with 99% positive reviews from European, Latin American and Asian students, is expanding its presence in Mexico to help young people and professionals strengthen their skills and meet the challenges of today's job market.
- The agency works with more than 300 schools in Australia and other countries, offering programs that build skills employers value, such as English fluency and intercultural competence.
- It offers access to one of the most in-demand study destinations: Australia, where international students can combine study with work and earn up to MXN 30,500 a month.
Beyond academic advice on courses abroad, the agency stands out for its human approach and extensive experience with student visas, achieving a high visa approval rate. This makes it a strategic ally for anyone looking to study and grow professionally on the international stage.
“At Study Destination we change lives, we don't just sell courses. We meet students who need guidance on much more than their visa. They arrive in their destination country without knowing where to live, which health insurance to choose, how to apply for jobs or how the tax rules work. Our team has been through these experiences, so we understand students and support them to feel safer and more confident on their journey.”Julie Bierry, CEO of Study Destination
Mexico is looking for talent with international skills
Study Destination's arrival comes at a time when secondary and higher education institutions in Mexico are working to strengthen the skills that make students more employable. Chief among them are intercultural or cross-cultural competencies, meaning the skills, attitudes and values that allow people to work effectively across different cultural environments, together with fluency in a second language.
According to an OECD report on higher education in Mexico, almost half of employers report a skills shortage in their sector and consider that candidates' training does not always meet the current needs of the labour market.1
Reports from institutions including the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO)2, UNAM3, INEGI and Consulta Mitofsky4 indicate that between 5% and 11% of Mexicans speak English at an intermediate or conversational level. Strengthening English skills is key for Mexico: it drives competitiveness, expands trade relationships, supports international business and improves quality of life.
Study Destination offers English courses, vocational qualifications and professional programs in key business destinations, including Australia, Ireland, Dubai, New Zealand, Spain and Canada.
Australia, the fastest-growing destination for Mexican students
“There's no denying that the United States and Canada remain Mexicans' favourite study destinations because they are close to home. However, Australia is becoming one of the most attractive destinations.”Julie Bierry, CEO of Study Destination
Unlike other countries, Australia's migration policy is designed so that international students can grow academically, work and build professional experience while learning the language and other skills through full immersion.
“In Australia, education programs are hands-on, meaning they are directly linked to labour market demand. And unlike other countries, students can arrive with work rights, which helps them cover the cost of their studies, from tuition to rent and food. For example, students working in hospitality or education can earn between AUD 26 and AUD 30 per hour.”6Julie Bierry, CEO of Study Destination
Study Destination recognises Mexico's strong entrepreneurial spirit, but many entrepreneurs give up when faced with red tape and regulation. That's why it offers programs that help young Mexican entrepreneurs broaden their business vision, with options ranging from vocational certificates to master's degrees.
“We've had IT engineers and communications graduates take vocational diplomas in cybersecurity or digital marketing in Australia, giving them an extra tool to boost their employability.”Julie Bierry, CEO of Study Destination
The value of international experience when you return home
Many students wonder how valuable studying abroad really is and, above all, what job opportunities they will have when they return to their home country.
At Study Destination, we have supported students whose international experience has strengthened their professional profile, widened their network and opened the door to better job opportunities. One example is Manuela Obarrio, who turned her time in Australia into professional growth that continued even after she returned home.
“Six years ago, I began my adventure in Australia. I entered the Australian job market for two years, and in that time I built a valuable network of local and international professionals, which allowed me to grow into the role of Digital Operations Manager at an Australian corporation. When I returned to my home country, I was able to keep my position, working remotely for the same organisation. Today, this international experience gives me a competitive salary, the ability to work from home and a highly flexible professional environment.”Manuela Obarrio
As part of its commitment to growth and employability, Study Destination runs its Ambassador Program, an initiative that lets students, alumni and professionals work with the company on a freelance basis, earning extra income while sharing and promoting international education experiences.
Study Destination arrives in Mexico to help Mexican talent achieve their dream of studying abroad, guiding them to choose programs aligned with the needs of the international job market.
