Yesterday, the Prime Minister decided the full lockdown of New South Wales and Victoria states in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus. The lockdown come into effect today (Monday 23rd of March) at 12pm in Victoria. Here’s what you need to know and how it affects us.
Should I stay home ?
YES, in order to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Australia, we should ALL stay home and avoid social contact and non essential travels. The governement is going to be very strict if you don’t respect that rule.What Will Be Closed?
From 12pm Monday 23 March, the following businesses must close:- Pubs
- Clubs
- Cinemas
- Casinos
- Nightclubs
- Indoor places of worship
- Gyms
- Indoor sporting venues
- Victorian schools will be closed from Tuesday 24 March
- The Twelve Apostles
- 1000 Steps/Kokoda Memorial Walk and Lyrebird Trail
- Accommodation and camping at Tidal River will be closed from 22 March
- Penguin viewing platform at St Kilda is closed. The pier remains open
- Sovereign Hill
- Mackenzie Falls in Grampians National Park
- Werribee Mansion
What will remain open?
"Essential services" will remain open, they include the following:- Supermarkets
- Banks
- Petrol Stations
- Pharmacies
- Convenience Stores
- Freight and logistics businesses
- Food delivery services
- Bottle shops
- Hairdressers
- Beauticians
- Cafes & restaurants who already do, or have adapted to take away only
- Mechanics
- Public transport
